How Community Project Requests Work

Community Project Requests are one‑time federal funding requests that local governments submit each year as part of the federal fiscal‑year budget process. Counties identify priority community projects — such as infrastructure improvements, public safety equipment, housing and health initiatives — and send those proposals to their federal representatives for consideration. Congress reviews and may include approved projects in that year’s budget, and once funded, the County receives a targeted allocation to complete the specified project.
